Summit Township Park

This small park is a great place to have a picnic, and swim in Lake Michigan.

There are picnic tables and grills, a sandy beach, and other facilities. It's biggest fault might be that it is a steep climb to and from the beach.

Access- Paved parking at the end of Summit Lake Rd.
Restrictions- Park closes at dusk or 10 pm and gated.
Grades- steep climb to and from the beach. Picnic tables are near the level of the parking.
Ecosystem- Lake Michigan beach dune with grassy area at top, wooded edge

Driving Directions

From Ludington, go south on Old US 31 (Pere Marquette Highway) to Iris Road. Turn right (west) and go to Lakeshore Drive. Turn left (south) and go 4 miles. Just south of Meisenheimer Road, watch for the marked turn to the park on the right (west).

From the US 31 Freeway, take the Oceana Drive exit (Pentwater's north Business US 31), and then turn north on Lakeshore Drive (across from the Wishing Well store). This road takes many jogs and turns, but in about 3 miles you will pass Deren Road. Watch for the marked turn to the park on the left (west).
